Mobile Photography
What is mobile photography?
Mobile photography is a form of photography that uses the camera of a mobile phone, such as an iPhone. Mobile photography won't be as good, or as professional, as using an actual photography camera, but there are benefits to using mobile photography - such as, apps that allow you to edit the white balance, the focus point, add effects (and much more) with ease, after taking the photo. The wide variety of apps that have been invented have made mobile photography a growing form of photography, that allows the average person that's inexperienced with a professional camera, to produce interesting photo's that seem professional and eye catching.
Photography Apps
InstaEditorInstaEditor is a great editing app for applying comedic effects, frames, stickers, or text to your photographs. InstaEditor's has everything that you would need to edit a photograph. The app's simplicity enables a very enjoyable user experience. InstaEditor is not only for comedic purposes, it also allows the user to edit their photograph's focus point, white balance and exposure - making the simplest photos look professional.
|
BeFunkyBeFunky is another great editing app. Like InstaEditor, the app can be used for comedic effects, frames, stickers and text - with the addition of overlays. The app is very simple to use and navigate through. The app has four different options - camera, camera roll, collage and an Explore option. The Explore option allows you to scroll through an endless supply of uploaded photographs being uploaded around the world, categorized in 12 different topics - those topics being Style, Love, Travel, LOL, Summer, Writeon, Cutefaces, Nature, Pets, Music, Parties and Cartoonizer (which are also a replacement for hash-tags). Users can also subscribe to other users, allowing you to be constantly notified by any updates the person your subscribed to makes. Much more can be done with this app, making it an amazing choice for mobile photograph.
|
PixlromaticCompared to the two other apps, Pixlromatic is very basic. That has only a few customization options, limiting the user's creativity and imagination. As well as taking a picture, Pixlromatic only has to three options for the user to utilize - Effects, Overlays and Frames. This app isn't very useful when trying to make a professional photo but adding effects to make the photo stand out is what this app is used for.

After discovering how to utilizes the iPhone's camera to the fullest, in 2010, his love for photography exploded and his, new-found, life of creativity was born. |
This is probably my favorite photo, that Robert has taken. The way the shot has been angled makes it look like the never ending fence leads out into the tropical, fluorescent blue sea. This photo is slightly under exposed - which gives the shot that intriguing , eye-catching effect. It also has a large depth of field, which puts the entire picture in focus.

This photography is one of my favorites pieces, taken by Robert, as I think it tells a story of someone taking a walk down a mysterious walkway, that splits the dark, gloomy forest from the sun touched, golden field. Like the last one, this photo is slightly under exposed - which gives the shot that eye-catching effect. The photograph also has a large depth of field, putting the focus point on the entire photo.

Dog yawning at the playgroundThe chiascuro used in this photo makes the photo look stronger and more eye-catching. The addition of the clouds gives the shot a dramatic atmosphere, making the shot much stronger. It also has a large depth of field.

Car park dog in IcelandLike the last photo, the chiascuro used makes the photo much stronger and much more eye-catching than a normal photograph. This photo also gives the dramatic atmosphere, from the grey, cloudy sky, that the other shot has. The photograph also has a large depth of field.

Even though this photo can be seen as extremely boring, dull and grey, I like it for that reason and the metallic texture the building brings to the picture. If examined closely, you can see island shaped patterns that decorate the building. The photo has a large depth of field and

Unlike the last, this photograph is extremely colourful and the utilization of the long shutter speed really gives this photo the eye-catching effect it has. What is more eye-catching in this photo is the shining, bright red sign that is held up in front of the night sky.

Misho Barinovic
This photograph is extremely simple as it is just a black and white filtered, photo of a public train station, but at the same time, this shot is as equally eye catching. It has a large depth of field.

Unlike the previous photo, this photograph is much more harder to take as the birds that are taking off must be in focus. To capture the birds, a fast shutter speed must have been used.

First Take
My Worst Photograph:
My Best Photographs:
Final Piece
From the first take of Mobile photography, this has to be my favourite shot. It has a medium depth of field, so the picture is focused on the middle section of the railing. It also has the perfect amount of exposure. The fact that the railing is located in the shade makes the image more eye catching, as you can see all the reflections that the railing is giving off.

Final Piece
I chose this photo as my final piece for Piccadilly Gardens, as I feel the viewer's eyes are attracted to the the solid structure in the center - which makes you feel as if you are on the ride and there's an essence of movement to the photograph. The branch really bring the an autumn theme to the shot with it's shedding branches that create pattern to the image. The photo has a large depth of field and is slightly under exposed.

Final Piece
This photograph is my favourite from the "Christmas in Manchester" shoot. I feel as if the warm, bright light and the twinkling Christmas lights really give this shot a very "homely" feeling. What also gives off this feeling is the way I have slightly under exposed the photograph, as if you are sitting by a lantern on a Christmas day. This photo has a small depth of field, placing the focus point on the lamp and leaving the tree out of focus.
Manchester Cathedral
My Worst Photograph
My Best Photographs
The reason why I have chosen this photo to be another one of my best photographs is because of the way the light from the candles reflects off the stand. To capture the position of the candles, I had to take this photograph from a side angle. What catches my eye is the way the flames are lined up and gradually fade all into one and becomes out of focus. The photo has a small depth of field, however, the colours from the stain glass window makes the composition of the photo.

Final Piece
Architectural Photography
This photo is my favourite from Manchester Cathedral take and, possibly, from the entire Mobile Photography assignment. I love the way the flower is in the foreground of the picture - as if nature is reaching out to the viewer. The way the flower is in focus - leaving the Cathedral out of focus - I feel is strong, eye catching and really makes this shot standout. This photograph has a small depth of field and is slightly under exposed to add a romantic, dreamy effect.
Mobile photography is not only use as a way to take high quality photographs without the expense of buying a high quality camera, but is also a good way to capture the moment under the genre "Documentary Photography".
